On Monday, August 11th, the Mission Possible Task Force kicked off their eight day bus tour across Kansas with coffee and donuts at the campaign headquarters. It was great to have supporters come out and see Greg off on his Problem Solving bus tour!
Our first stop on the bus tour was in Lawrence at Just Food, a food pantry that serves over 10,000 individuals a year. We were set with the task of coring over 2,000 pounds of tomatoes! Although one of our volunteers had an interesting encounter with a paring knife, the Mission Possible Crew was able to get the job done! This was a truly eye-opening experience, and we were extremely thankful to learn more about the needs of a large portion of Douglas County residents.
The second destination of our Problem-solving bus tour was at the Topeka YWCA Women’s Shelter. There we met with the interim-director and discussed the various services provided by the YWCA, of which include housing, employment support, summer learning programs, and counseling. The team also helped pack up clothing to be donated to the local rescue mission.
We ended the night at Manhattan City Park for a school supply drive and candidate meet and greet. We enjoyed being able to eat delicious barbeque and meet with local Manhattan residents, while gathering school supplies for the local Manhattan-Ogden school district.
